  • Gratitude

There are a few people here who have contributed greatly and I'd like to show my appreciation. I don't often post but I lurk daily.

    In no particular order....

Gary Beene, thank you. You have been tireless in promoting PB and updating the PB Help files. A lot of interesting posts with regard to minimal coding and your wide-ranging interests. Lately you've got me writing a sliding 15 puzzle solver. Thank you for the diversion. Programming can be a lot of fun and a great way to de-stress after hours. I've never seen you offend anyone here.

Pierre Bellisle, thank you. Every time you post a solution to a fellow member's post I pay attention. You write elegant, easily understood didactic code - and quite often its using some relatively obscure API calls that I haven't yet had to deal with. You never preach, just post some reliable code to get someone headed in the right direction. I appreciate your generosity of time and energy.

Borje Hasten, thank you. You've been assisting PB users from ancient times and I've come across many of your recent and ancient posts. Your code has been enlightening on many occasions.
Much appreciated. I recall utilising/stealing your ownerdrawn listview code in a commercial app. Helped me a lot to understand the win32api when MS docs can be sometimes terse to say the least.

David Biggs, thank you. I read your posts with confidence because you've so often provided an instructive answer/solution to a forum question/problem. Thanks!

Paul Dixon and Steve Hutchesson, thank you. You both are the ASM gurus here and the PB forum would be much less optimized without you. I've shamelessly cribbed code from both of you with no acknowledgement. I envy your ability to extract the maximum cycles out of a CPU. I bet you need a good CPU cooler on your respective PCs coz it'll be running hot!

Jose Roca, thank you. Amazing contribution with API Headers extending PB's range. Thanks for your freely available forum and all the info at hand. Your posts are always on the mark. Enjoy your retirement!

Many more I can mention, Eric Pearson, Stuart McLachlan, Semen Matusovski, Jules Marchildon, Dominic Mitchell, Chris Boss, Paul Squires. All very, very knowledgeable. And those I've missed, I hope you know who you are.

And this is an edit - Bob Zale. We owe you a huge debt. A life's work. I've used C++ and many many other languages. I like Powerbasic because it doesn't take up several Gigabytes on my drive - its efficient, quite fast and very reliable. What a legacy! One day I'll use all the functions available - hasn't happened yet....

    Many, many thanks to all.

    Thanks Ross

My total absolute seconding of this post.

It is the sheer volume of people, and the depth of information and the willingness to assist which makes this forum truly wonderful - and maybe even unique

It has been, and I hope it continues to be, my privilege to be allowed to be a member of this community.

    My eternal gratitude as well

Wishful thinking but if/when Drake releases a new version I'd love to see a release party where we could all meet. I doubt it would be possible but it sure would be fun to meet some of giants we all stand on the shoulders of.

        Hey Ross,

        Thank for your kind words.
This forum as a real fun "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" little place.
        Life is good.

        Take care,
        Pierre

          Ross,
Yep, a great bunch of folks here. I've learned a lot from all my mentors! I came here in late 2008 - wish I had gotten here sooner!

            I would love that too

I suggested it to Bob - but he was obviously not keen.

I would try and come from the other end of the earth!!
