  • Using PB CC 6.0 with Ontime RTOS-32 embedded real time operating system

I have added a new post on my blog about how to use Powerbasic Console compiler 6.0 with the Ontime RTOS-32 realtime operating system. RTOS-32 has minimal support for a tiny subset of the WIN32 API, which actually means a minimal console app (no graphics). But if you have any DOS VGA experience one can easily add graphic support and then using compiler directives compile using native PB graphic commands for Windows and then VGA BIOS calls for RTOS-32.

Personally I have two UI's in development, one for a Text base screen and the other using VESA support for 32 bit Graphics. My current project is proprietary right now, but my article provides the basic's to get up and running with RTOS-32.

You can read the article on my blog here: http://cwsof.com/blog/?p=1006

or on Code Project here: https://www.codeproject.com/script/A...41&aid=1259936

RTOS-32 is only 32 bit (protected mode) so Powerbasic will have a long life with it. There is a really nice tiny x86 board called 86Duino which it can run on using RTOS-32. The board can be used for robotics and motor controller stuff, since it has special GPIO onboard. You can get a tiny mini-PCI VGA board for it too.

The only trouble I am having so far is getting the RTOS-32 USB module to work.
