COMM, maxed out CPU

I note that when I run the comm.bas program that comes with the PBCC 4.01 disk, that the CPU stays maxed out.
Do I need to use threads to prevent this?

Any help to this novice would be most welcome.

If you replace the SLEEP 0 with SLEEP 1 in the comm.bas example, the CPU load will drop...
