  • Attachments are now allowed!

You are now allowed to upload attachments, which are relevant to the thread or post. When making a post you will see a Manage Attachments button that will allow you to upload several attachments per post. If there is an attachment file type not supported, let me know and upload a zip file instead.

Please note, any abuse of this feature will result in an immediate removal of the offending file and a possibly suspension. The admin and PowerBASIC Inc. are not responsible for any of the files hosted on the forums. You download any attachments at your own risk.

    Sincerely,

I've said it before and I'm saying it now. This is a really bad idea. But, it's not my board, so...

We will do our best to scan for viruses and make sure no malicious content is posted but there is always that risk. You do not have to download attachments, this is simply an option we make available to forum members.

        Nice Steve,

Good option and I think that abuse will take not place as long as your folks only let members (registered PB software owners use this option)

Hmm, typical reaction... it's a "bad idea" before even trying it!

Give the PB folks some credit for at least giving it a shot. (Remember "polls" started off on a trial basis,too... not that there have been a lot of those as of late).

Either it works out or it doesn't.

I think we may all come to appreciate this step forward.
              Thanks PB.

I'm quite sure you will but remember, you have to succeed 100 percent of the time and a hacker only has to succeed once.

Sorry I took to long responding but I've been somewhat busy the entire day working on emergency repairs to a friends car.

                  Mel--

If you are not comfortable downloading attachments, there is a very simple solution. You should not download attachments.

If you are not comfortable downloading certain types of attachments (such as EXE's), there is another simple solution. You should not download certain types of attachments (such as EXE's).

Everyone here is capable of making their own informed decision, based upon the reputation and history of the person posting. We won't impose another person's opinion on you, and hope you'll do likewise. It's good to be prudent in this situation, and we appreciate your comments.

                  Best regards,

If I may be so bold to suggest a good place for attachments....

A compiled EXE might be nice when posting source code, especially if your posted code is compilable only with either PB/CC or PB/Windows..
                    .. and ...
.. the program actually 'does something' as opposed to demonstrating something.

(Not everyone has licenses for both compilers. )
