In general how one uses a Database Management System is via an Application Programming Interface (API) provided by the DBMS vendor.

What you need to do is look at the various brand-name DBMS's and see what kind of API that specific brand name DBMS provides for your environment.

Some MS-DOS APIs will use a OBJ file linked to your program, some may use a TSR program which must be loaded (Btrieve/MS-DOS uses a TSR).

APIs for Windows are generally either a proprietary DLL (e.g., Oracle) or by means of the 'generic' ODBC interface.

Thanks alot, but I can't execute any search,
because I get "connection timeout" on the
"Search" page. from what I can see, it's about
a Novel DataBase. I'll keep looking...

    Alex.
