  • $INCLUDE "QPakPro.Inc"-Lib for PB3.2-By Barry Erick how to Convert PB3.5

    Hi !

With the excellent service from [email protected] I am up and almost running PB 3.5 . .

Ummmmmmm . . the straw that might just break my camels back . .

All the modules that I used to develop the CompuByte Point of Sale software (www.mandla.co.za/compubyte) uses the QPakPro.Inc libraries written by Barry Erick. These libraries were excellent and I never regret purchasing the license to use them using PB 3.2.

Now with PB 3.5 I just don’t know how I could get these libraries to compile(work) in PB 3.5.

I have tried the following :-

    1) Used PBLIB to extract all files in PRO.PBL / PRO1 and PRO2.PBL – (PRO and PRO2 has .obj files whiles PRO1 has PBU files). . . .

In another thread of the forum Barry said:-“ I wrote that program and all you need to do is extract the pro libs and then recompile the *.sub files (not the *.obj files using 3.5 .. There are batch files in there that will do this, although I do not recall the exact names nor the exact operation as this has been out of distribution for several years and my copies and source are someplace in my office that was neatly arranged but . . . “

I need to know where do I get these batch files? Or even how do I recompile these sub files (what are they?) . . .

Any help will be most appreciated . .

    Thanks

There aren't *.sub files, they are *.bas and *.inc files that are
located in the subdirectory "UNITS" of the QPakPro directory, and
that compile to *.TPU. Of course, you must have the source files.

The batch files are called BLDQP.BAT, BLDQP1.BAT, BLDQP1.BAT and
MAKEDEMO.BAT, and they make use of several response (*.RSP) files.
They are located in the QPakPro directory.

    I hope this helps.

      Hi Jose !

Thanks, much appreciated, however I have another problem regarding what you said . . and I am hoping you or someone can assist.

      (*.TPU you must meant *.PBU)

When I purchased QPakPro I only used these three .inc files :-
      $INCLUDE "QPakPro.Inc"
      $INCLUDE "DefCnf.Inc"
      $INCLUDE "SetCnf.Inc"
when compiling I ensured that I had PRO,PRO1,PRO2 (PBL files) in the directory.

This was years ago, since I have lost all my other QPAK files that you mention. I have emailed [email protected] and they have provided me the serial numbers of my purchase however they have disontinued the product. Is there anyway that you or any one else could email me the full package or even just the pro/pro1/pro2 (pbl) files that would work with pb3.5.

I am prepared to pay whatever it cost's to do this, I am really desperate now . .

      My email is ce[email protected]

      Thanks Again,

I have the *.PBL in my computer, compiled to be used with PB 3.5 (I'm
still doing some programming in DOS) and I must have the original
packgage somwhere in a floppy disk. I can send them to you by email if
the copyright owners give me permission to do it.

Yes, the product has been discontinued, but I can't imagine that anyone at PowerBASIC refused to help in a case like this. Just email your information to our sales department and we'll get you a replacement copy.

            Dear Jose,

I would really appreciate if you could email me the three files (*.pbl) - PRO/PRO1/PRO2.

I did pay for the original version and this can be verified with [email protected](Bob_G).
I don’t have your email address, if I did I could sent you copies of his emails showing serial numbers and payment made. I have tried to communicate with the author of these libraries, however I have yet not received a response.

            I desperately need these PBL . .

You assistance would be most appreciated and once again I re-iterate that what ever cost you incurred in terms of time or otherwise to convert these libraries to work with pb3.5 I will compensate same.

            Thanking you,
