    does the old dos program use file control blocks instead of file handles
    if so
    if you are not sure add fcbs anyway

    edit the config.nt file
    add
    fcbs=75,70

    also files=
    i have set mine to files=100
    and yes
    might as well go ahead and add the ansi.sys driver too

    started a topic Dos on 2000

    Dos on 2000

    I have a dos based program that will not run on windows 2000 it will load and run ok until it trys to shell to another program. That program will load but not execute. Trying to select on of the options will just cause one of the letters on the screen to change colors. I have installed my hard driver from my old computer in my new 2000 computer as a d drive. I am thinking about going to d drive and call the old command.com and then see it it works that way but just haven't done it yet.
    Any suggestions?
    Jack
