  • Ability to use PB Forms without PB

Before I buy all the pieces op PB (it's about $800) , I would like to test PB Forms 1.51. (It's just $99 !).
If it's possible to use PB Forms without having PB compiler for Windows, I'd like to know how the 'forms' are generated and how they are 'included' in a PB program.
    Thank you for an anwser.
    Best regards.

PBForms generates DDT code for PB/WIN, there is no way to compile the programs without also owning the compiler. It does have a "test mode", I believe, so you can view your dialog(s) as they would display in a compiled program.

My advice would be to buy a physical copy (ie. on disc) of PB/WIN and use PB's 30 day money back offer if you don't find it fits your needs (I think it most probably will though )

I suggest to check also FireFly. It's free to try, and very very good.

      Bye!

What can you buy that would cost that much?

I think the two compilers PB/Win + PB/CC come to what, about four and a quarter?

Add PBFORMS and you're up to five and a quarter.

Add PowerTree and you're at maybe six and a half.

What else is there? (Talk about a 'softball' for the PB sales dept!)

(I 'suppose' I could grub around the web site here and find some stuff, but it's Friday).

Could be a bad currency exchange rate where he lives that drives up his total cost?

Well, I was assuming "$800" meant eight hundred U.S. dollars.

Current exchange rate: 1 USD = 1 USD.

                FWIW

In PBForms you set the size of your window(a dialog), colors, screen placement, etc. You can add Menu, Accelerators, and a whole series of controls (label, textbox, buttons, scrollbars, etc) at the location you want, with the size you want, with the %styles you want, and as many of each as you need.
Once you have your 'window' looking the way you want it, you can(your preference here):
a)Toggle the 'Test Dialog' feature to see what the 'Window' would look like while running.
b)View the generated PB DDT code in a separate window.
                c) Save the file and from the PBForms IDE, call up the PBWin IDE and put the finishing touches to your program.
d)Add supporting 'windows'(dialogs) to your program. PB generates separate "Dialog Procedures" and "Callback functions" for each window within the program.

There are many other features to the combined PBForms PBWin combination, too numerous to mention here, too good to pass up.

Like Kevin, I think that you'll find that PB meets your needs.
