  • DOS Driver for PCI Soft Modems

I have been on about that subject before.

Any of you older Dossers capable of writing a Driver which can
    configure a PCI WinSoft-Modem to act as a COM4 one in DOS 6.22 ?

    For money of course

I hate to say "it can't be done" but, in this case... I suspect you'd find it cheaper to give away DOS-compatible modems with your software.

Having recently written off eighteen client's computers as a result of one lightning strike, all but one of which had internal modems, I would not use one if I was paid!
With only one exception, the external modems were fried, but protected the computers. Stick to serial externals! (Or maybe USB if you dont need DOS)
In any case, I have had mixed success with internals in DOS. As Tom says, more trouble than they are worth.

        You are right !

Coming back to the U.K. after a Christmas visit in Salt Lake City a
couple of years ago, one of my external modems got knocked out by
a lightning strike. At Christmas ? Crazy weather.

I use them so that I can see what they are doing and switched off,
I'd like to see anybody trying to remotely power-up my computers
they are connected to, BIOS set not to or otherwise

Not under standalone DOS, but under Windoze, these guys have
a driver that lets you access a WinModem from a DOS application:
