  • Calling VB-written ActiveX Servers?

    Howdy,

I understand that PB/DLL doesn't directly support COM or ActiveX servers (at least from what I found doing a search here), but are there any 3rd-party tools & such out there that can ease the task?

Second, I read that PB is adding COM support to a future version of PB/DLL; is there any news on the schedule and how can one request to become a beta tester?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Mark,

There are some 3rd-party tools available from JazzAge:
    http://www.jazzagesoft.com/

In terms of when PowerBASIC will have COM in their tools, who knows? This discussion was already done at length months before on this BBS (search the archives for "COM" or my user name), and all that we know is that, yes, PowerBASIC will add COM support but they won't say when. I do have the same mindset as you, though - I hope I can get on the beta test team as well .

    Regards,

    Jason Bock

I can ensure you that OCX's are done correctly using jazzage...
      (Or other COM component)

Search for the webbrowser example on the 3th part section.

        Mark,

Our JA COM Wizard for PB/DLL 2.0 is currently in open beta,
please let me know if you would like to get a copy. It will add
full support for COM components and ActiveX controls (OCXs) to
        PB/DLL.

Thanks to all of you for helping; I didn't realize the breadth of JazzAge's products until I visited their web site. It looks like another hurdle in my VB to PB migration may be cleared.
