Frankly I wish all tool vendors would adopt developer licenses (Even if it were nothing more than a nag screen.)
At least this would allow users in this forum to evaluate actual demos etc. while preventing commercial use of the tools.
Most third party vbx controls and dlls use licenses with success.

I've wondered why there was so little discussion.
Like the licensing idea. Please add to the wish list.
I'd gladly pay for an update or repurchase. I'd like
to see a PowerBasic database manager skeleton or DLL
with get first, get last, handling of variable length
data, images, etc. The more people that share the
same routines the better they become. I'd really
like to see some rock solid code for a multi-user
environment. I'll add transaction processing and
pre-imaging routines if I use PowerTree.

I have many times wondered what the description of this topic mean:
Windows
User to user discussions about the PB/DLL product line. Discussion topics include PowerGEN and PowerTree for Windows.
I strongly support the Idea that PowerBasic introduce a licence
check in (not only) PowerTree

Lance, this one of the downsides to PTree. There should be some secured site to allow for code examples / exchanges and discussions. But since everyone is under the same silent license agreement, we all have to suffer.
However, there is a possible solution. Maybe dave could add just (1) small function. A validate serial No function, whereas, if someone did have the dll and attempted to use it's functions, if the serial no wasn't validated, the dll could quit, display notice or whatever. Plus the no. could be traced back to the original purchaser.
This would free up some of the silent source of knowledge that many of your visitors have to offer!
My .02 worth!

Mike, under the licence agreement for PowerTREE, public posting of source code is not permitted.
However, I may have some updated [working] example files, so if you email mailto:[email protected][email protected]</A> with your PT serial number(s) (and the version: DOS or Windows or both), I'll see what I can put together for you.

PowerTree evaulation
Does anyone have any PowerTree source code
that updates, inserts and deletes records.
I bought it, but could never get the demo
to work properly. Must be doing something wrong.
