  • Compression Tool

I've seen many compression tools (dll's) on the market the
past few months, but never could quite spend the money, to
justify the means. However, recently one of my clients had
a request, which gave me the opportunity to go looking.

    The top name-brand Zip-Dll's range from $299 to $399.
However, I pursued to look though the webs-port-holes and
came across BigSpeed! Has anyone else heard of it?

    http://shareit1.element-5.de/programs.html?nr=103234

Sorry, I'll keep it short! The dll cost $65 and has very
limited help. After a few hours of (dll-hell, pointers,
asciiz, strings), I've managed to get a working include file!
BigSpeed is fast and zipped a 14Mb Ptree file to around
    400kb. Fully 32-bit Pk-Zip Compatible. Around 20 Functions.
The dll is only 89kb, compared to the others, this is nice!
Anyone wanting my .inc file are welcome to it! The reg ver.
is emailed, the shareware version has a nag-screen!

Give me your thoughts! Whose using what?

    Thanks
    Mike

    Mike,
If you have the time I'd like to see a comparison with zlib.

        Mike,

I am just currious why you didn't use the dv32zl20.dll.
I even send you a full working example...

dv32zl20.dll is very fast and it performs the same level of compression than using WinZIP or PKZIP.

used PB6 or PB5. The code as it was
          wasn't working for me!
          (pointers/asciiz)...ect! It did
real good for a quick/dirty rewrite!

          Thanks All,
