  • 3rd party DLL's in Resource?

    I think this question has been asked and I'm pretty sure i know the answer but I want to check.

    Lets say I have a 3rd party DLL and I don't want to release it, but moreso want to embed it in an EXE via a resource.

    Is it possible?

    Scott,

    Without using one of those fancy embedder programs, I believe the DLL fully meets the RCDATA type.

    The RCDATA resource-definition statement specifies a raw data resource for an application. Raw data resources permit the inclusion of binary data directly in the executable file.

    Syntax
    nameID RCDATA [[optional-statements]] { raw-data . . . }

    Check your resource editor for full definition.

    Cheers,
    Cecil

      Do you want to distribute the exe without making the DLL present?
      I do that using PEBUNDLE (search here)
      Wincab uses a DLL, the dll is enclosed and runs statically instead.
      I checked it with 'depends'.

        Scott,

        we have made available for free about 18 months ago the DV32
        embedder which should do exactly what you describe. You will
        find it on our web site.
