  • Can't Compile PowerGEN Program

I have created several simple dialog boxes using Visual Studio,
MS-DldEdit, and ResourcesStudio32 and then created an
application using PowerGEN. When I compile the code all I
get the the normal comile results box only there is no text
in it. If I compile any other program (even ones with dialog
resources) they come out fine. Anyone have any idea what is
causing this or how to solve it?

I don't own PowerGEN but on the Forum before I remember discussions
about MFC not working right with PowerGEN, so I would make sure
I disable MFC in your resource dialog.

    Hope that helps.

Just make it in DDT and it will be all good.

I'm not clear on which dialog is empty... is it PB/DLL that gives you that empty dialog, PowerGEN, or the actual compiled app you created with PowerGEN?

Two things are important to ensure success:
      1. Use the resource compiler provided with the resource editor you are using. ie, if you use Visual Studio, then use RC.EXE supplied with VS, not the one supplied with PB/DLL.

      2. When using VS, be sure to switch _OFF_ "MFC Features" for your script. (Thanks for the reminder Greg!)

Also, when using the original Dialog Editor suppied with PB/DLL, be sure to read the PowerGEN errata notes in the FAQ forum...

      I hope this helps.

The dialog that is empty is the on PBDLL generates at the end
of the compile to report the results (Disk Image Size, ...).

          Doug,

I use the same combination of tools you are using (Visual Studio v6, PowerGen, and PB/DLL) and I have no problems.

If you can mail me a copy of the source files I can try compiling it on my side so see if it works here.
