    PB marketing..?

    HI all,

    I'm new to PB.
(I have ordered PB/DLL 6.0 for Win but haven't received it yet..)
I was wondering: Why is PB (by Powerbasic INC itself) always promoted as an 'add on' to VB??
Isn't PB sufficient as a stand-alone programming language? (I'm sure it is...).
Or is it just to reach a bigger audience to sell PB to...?

    Kind regards
    Eddy Van Esch

    Chalk it up to evolution.

PB/DLL version 1.00 was intended to produce DLLs (hence the name) primarily as a VB add-on. But it also had this little-publicized $COMPILE EXE option...

PB/DLL has grown to become far more than a VB add-on, and the marketing hasn't yet caught up. I suspect that will change soon, as you're not the first person to mention it. Several people have suggested that the name "PB/DLL" is no longer appropriate, and that PowerBASIC For Windows (or some other name) might be better.

Same answer Willie Sutton gave when asked, "Willie, why do you rob banks?"
