    Scott,
Unfortunately it would be pointless for PB to say "use this IP for the next 48 hours", as although you would be able to get to the main forum page, you wouldn't be able to get much further (as all the links in the html are pointing at www.powerbasic.com, not the IP address)... although, I guess a hosts file modification might do the trick.

    Best regards,
    Wayne

Well, since I could not find the Ip number, which maybe some users
could be given, I thought, "What ISP would be the fastest to update?"
Well, I logged onto AOL and sure enought, they had the update.

That's a very interesting idea... We'll only provide the numeric IP address to the very smart programmers, not the average visitors to www.powerbasic.com!
Only one small problem, how will we tell them apart? Perhaps we'll post a programming test here? If you pass the test, we give you the numbers?
That's easy Mr. Zale: the very smart programmers are the ones who are your customers and have purchased your products.
    For some reason, it strikes me that you may not have thought this through... {smile}
    You were saying....?

Thank you, Tom. EST and Pacific time is something 95% of earth's
population never uses, so it's a bit hard for us "foreigners" to
know what they stand for. GMT is always easier for us..

I mean, 4-5 PM, is that "Pacific time", whatever that means compared to GMT.
As stated, 4-5pm EST. That's Eastern Standard Time, GMT-05:00.

    Bob,
A person who knows nothing is not dangerous.
A person who knows a bit is mildly dangerous.
A person who thinks he knows a lot is extremely dangerous.
A person who knows a lot, but doesn't think he knows it all is not dangerous.
Sometimes its hard to know who is who.

As for clever - Whois.. n't?

BTW, I'm currently grabbing pages for update of Poffs. Hope you forgive
this distraction in your visitor logs, but something good for both PB
and us users will hopefully be the result of it..

    Tom,
I agree as far as 'average' visitors are involved. But we are very smart programmers, at least clever enough to avoid the problem you're afraid for.

If people actually use the numeric IP address, they'll be in much worse shape
when we next change it, which will almost certainly happen at some point.
Better to wait for the few hours it should take to propagate the changes! We
do appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Why can't you provide us with the new IP so we can still access
the website when the DNS servers haven't updated yet?

    Changing Servers !!!

PowerBASIC on the Net will be changing IP addresses around 4:00pm-5:00pm EST
on 15 March 2001. The PowerBASIC web site and email delivery may appear to be
down until the new IP reaches your local Domain Name Server (less than 12
    hours in most cases).
