    Personal Medical History Report Generator

    I have written a report generator for people to keep track of their own personal medical histories. I'd appreciate it if you guys would take a look at it, and maybe offer suggestions, before I release it to the hordes.

    It has a couple neat features I think. Change the weight or height and watch the BMI. Or change DOB and watch age. (Thanks to an MCM tip on %EN_Change). I think the multiple buttons are pretty cool too.

    If you create a report it will run Word and load the report.
    It's a pretty day. I hope you enjoy it.

    Ouch.... bright green background? With bright yellow labels.

    If you plan on a commercial launch, I'd highly recommend starting off with 'standard' windows colors, then offer a way to change them if the user wants to. For many people, the bright colors make it harder to read, especially the buttons on the right side.

    Otherwise, its pretty nice!

      Yea, I agree with Joe. Give the user a choice of screen colors.

      Also, I don't really care for a fixed size window on any app. Give the user a resize/full screen capability.

      Otherwise, it's a pretty slick little program.

        Okay boys, I changed the colors. Thanks the suggestion.

        Oh, and no "commercial" launch. Just throwing it out there for any who might find a use for it. Wouldn't expect to find much need here, just healthy young bucks.

          I noticed too, that you have a whole section on cholesterol. I really hope you too haven't bought in to that scam. There is clear proof that cholesterol has absolutely no negative effects on the heart or any other part of your physical make-up. The whole cholesterol scam started in the late 40's early 50's but various cooking oil manufactures wishing to get a bigger part of the market.

          Its really easy to investigate this scam with a google search. The studies against cholesterol are overwhelming but the AMA still wants to push it.

            Mel,

            I use a fixed window size (fits into an 800x600) because the text boxes then pretty nearly approximate a line length when printing a report (using Courier 11). The object is to get the columns line up. What you don't see here is the lengthy blood pressure data and extensive summary stats(unless you have a MicroLife BP machine).

            Joe,

            All I know is I'm at least than 15 years past my expiration date. A good part of the reason (right after my wife) for that is my (main) doctor. If he cares about cholesterol, then I care about cholesterol. He's kept me goin' more than 20 years.

              You're showing your age, Joe.

              Used to be we all worried about conspiracies involving Elvis, or the Kennedy assasination .... but now it's cholesterol which fascinates us....

                  Oh, okay. I forgot about lower rez screens. Makes sense now.

                    I found it rather hard to read the italicized printing in the yellow boxes. Maybe bold would be clearer? An icon on the input screen would be nice too rather than the 'Bill' window icon.

                    btw, I heard tell selenium has come under scrutiny as of late. i.e. should you really be taking it in supplements kind of thing.

                        As suggested above I changed the colors to standard windows colors. I forgot how drab and dreary most of the world likes to see things. {grin .. dig}

                        There's an icon now. (a blue anchor on a yellow bg). Pretty amatuerish in design but the best of my abilities. {sad self pitying whine}

                        Actually I have put it under the "notes to ask doctor" about for my next appointment.

                        And I just want to make a point here. I did not leave my personal data on the sample form to advertise my health. Only that it seemed to me to be a good example of how the can be used. Better than I could have made up.

                          Mea Culpa. I had changed the colors as suggested BUT neglected to post the updated .exe to the medsite.

                          It's posted now. For convenience, here's the address again (http://www.swedesdock.com/powerbasic/Med-History.exe).
