How do you create a window without the bar at the top?
I need the smallest possible window. I assume without that bar it connot be dragged around (which is fine)

    Also:
Is it possible to compile an .EXE file with .wavs in it so that the app ships as one file with all the resources it needs built in?

    Mike,

One way would be a plain old dialog without the %WS_CAPTION
style. You may want to center the dialog in the screen though.

Wav's can be added to the resource file. PB was supposed to change
this at one so they could be added just like anyother resource,
however it can be done by pure raw data in the file.

    Cheers,
    Cecil

      Cecil,

Even without the WS_CAPTION I still get an area above the area available to me for btns etc etc that I cannot get rid of.

....it can be done with raw data
      OK How?

        Mike,

This code works for me in an about box. Plain old dialog
window, as far as the window goes, no caption, no anything
other than what's in the begin statement.

        Code:
        IDD_ABOUTBOX DIALOG DISCARDABLE 20, 20, 160, 80
        STYLE DS_MODALFRAME | WS_POPUP
        FONT 8, "MS Sans Serif"
        BEGIN
            CTEXT "AutoBASIC Application Development Platform",-1,-1,12,
                            160,8
            ICON "ABMain",-1,7,58,20,20
CTEXT "AutoBASIC (R) Editor for Microsoft Windows",-1,-1,30,
                            160,8
CTEXT "Copyright (c) Cecil Williams, 1999",-1,0,39,160,8
            DEFPUSHBUTTON "&OK",IDOK,64,60,32,14,WS_GROUP
        END

Use the "rcdata" type in your resource. Check the PB site
for updates to resource compiler. They were supposed to update
the PBR utility to include more resource types.

        Cheers,
        Cecil

as for playing wav's from resource files, i do it all the time, here's how i do it:
          http://www.powerbasic.com/support/pb...ead.php?t=2751

just search for playwavfromresource and you'll get two hits of mine wiht the code and sample resource file.
i don't quite understand how my code works (from the resource file etc) but it does

as for the "plain" window, try this:

basically only use: %ws_popup or %ws_dlgframe
