  • Need good icons for Toolbar

Where does everyone get their application icons. The boss wants some that look up to date for a business app. I've only found some free ones that are really for w95 and w98. They look outdated.

    Thanks,

If you are willing to pay for them, there are many vendors. A couple of links:

I followed the link Edwin gave and found a lot of inconsitency amongst creators re permissible usages. (Mostly they left that out of the descriptions).

But here's my favorite 'artist's comments'
Included are 33 popular videogame system icons from Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sega and more in Antiseptic icon style. Includes 32x32 and 16x16 versions in XP/256 colors.
I wonder what Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and Sega think of copying their icons?

(This artist did NOT claim copyright status).

I follwed the links as well. I downloaded one, which has the "not for commercial use" clause in the intall's EULA... unless you contact and arrange with the copyright holder.

I have no problem with restrictions on use for any intellectual or artistic property.

But what bugs me no end is when an author posts something for download and does not state the copyright, use and redistribution conditions. At that point I really have no choice but to revert to the 'default' of "copyright, all rights reserved", in which case whomever posted the whatever may as well as not bothered to post in the first place, since any use other than looking at it on line is not permitted.

And what's really bad about that is, it's not likely at all that was the poster's intent. i would think you post things because you want people to use your work.

If you are "artistically challenged", as I am, you might want to take a look at IconWorkshop:

                http://www.axialis.com/iconworkshop/

It's a great drag and drop tool to create your own icons, which can then be safely used (copyright wise) in your applications.

                Thanks,

Maybe you already noted at the web site Jose provided that they have several free ... and rather comprehensive ... icon sets as well ... here's the direct link just in case you or others want to see what the offer.
