  • Very Disappointed

    Bob
Pity you couldn’t have released a month ago, now most non USA customers have to pay much more, Euro 6%, Australia 13% etc . Did some currency speculator know what you were going to do to America’s trade balance?
Guess I will have to wait a few weeks before I order.:crying2:

It's not Bob's fault the US Dollar looks like a shooting star Here in Mexico it has declined from running around 11.50 pesos/dollar to less than 10 for a while, now it 's 10.17 pesos/dollar. For buying from the US that seems good, until you receive payments from the US which are fairly less pesos .. ouch. Meanwhile the cost of everything here has gone up ... especially food items .. so we need more pesos to buy what we bough like yesterday. As far as PB's prices go ... they are a gem of a bargain even still!

Not too sure about that. Last months US trade defecit was was low but with the release of PB 9 I think most economists will actually be expecting a trade surplus and rightly so . Philippine Peso has held up fairly well so will probably use that

I don't think the shoot is going to hold long.

Its just a medium term correction.

Woldwide people sell their dollars and go into the EURO
because the Dollar is falling all the last Years.

Actually speculants try to make money buyind Dollars, but on long term nobody want to buy Dollars, because ... he is still falling.
        Medium and long term.

But it may take until February before things change again.
The Dollar is like a product. Somebody must be intersted in buying and keeping it.
But then he would have to become stable again, and US will have to print less Dollars then they actually print.

Nobody believes this could happen because that money is needed for tanks and bombs.

Yea, a whopping 36% of the budget....down more than half since 1960.

Actually, its all the socialist programs American's are funding that requires our inept congress to keep printing and spending more than they have, but hey, thats what socialist do best.

Fact is, if I look a long an medium term chart, my interst in buying something that is permanently falling may not be really high.

Unless I think there is a temporary correction.
And this is not only about big investors, like Arabs.

Also those Millions of people from countries without a own solid currency have had US Dollar for Decades.

Since those Pension-Dollars they had lost 30% in the last few years, they will also give them away and change them to EURO.

                Everybody would do that.
And the more people sell their Dollars, the more the Dollar will become under pressure again, thats like a circle.

The title of this thread pretty well sums up my feelings too - though not in jest.

I purchased 8 on 1st August after considerable research and a couple of queries here - only to be stuck with another $99 for a major upgrade release less than 2 weeks later. With a 30 day 'no-quibble' refund on non-electronic download items, I have to say it leaves a bit of a sour taste.

I'm really curious, Peter... How did you determine that you were "stuck with another $99" ?

From what I can glean from your web site, if I want to upgrade to 9 it will cost me another $99, having already paid (just 2 weeks ago) $199 for 8, which is also the asking price for 9 - unless I've missed something

Well, Peter, when you use a negative phrase like "stuck with", it implies a great deal. In your case, it wouldn't be true, because PowerBASIC always upgrades that recent of a full product purchase at no cost. That's been our published policy for many years.

                        Perhaps it would be a good idea to check it out first? A short email to [email protected] could work wonders. {smile}

                        Best regards,

Please accept my apologies Bob. I did check things out on the site and just assumed I was stuck with it. Probably would even have shelled out the extra too if I hadn't spotted this thread.

Anyway, thanks for clearing it up. I'll send the email asap.

When you think about it, providing upgrades for 'recent' purchases is only smart business: It saves the cost of processing your 'no questions asked ' return of and refund for the 'old' version.

To be honest it crossed my mind to do just that. However, T&C's make it quite clear that electronically delivered products are not subject to the 30 day full refund. So, I assumed (wrongly as it turns out) that I'd have to pay for upgrade inspite of both 8 & 9 pricing being the same. Hence the post.

Bob's right though. I should have checked first.
