How 2 get application network access

I'm not sure this is the appropriate forum for this message.

I want a method for my applications to obtain Novell network
access rights on an as-needed basis. The initial problem
would just be a matter of having the application log in,
if it were not for the problem of reconnecting the user
(with more limited rights) when I'm done.

Does anyone know a way to log an application to a server
without logging out the user, or a way to log the user back
in without requiring the user to enter their password?
