  • F1 -> MSDN please?

    If only I could work out a way of getting F1 to search MSDN instead of WIN32.HLP. Maybe this feature could be added to the compilers by PowerBasic, Inc.

    For example, compare the MSDN and Win32.hlp entries for isbadreadptr - the community comment on the MSDN entry is beyond price.

    I second Chris's idea. WIN32.HLP is outdated.

      Send new feature suggestions to publisher.
      [email protected]. Put "new feature suggestion" in subject.

      It works.

        I can see the point but personally I understand Win32.hlp a LOT better than MSDN

        Maybe its just the way its read, but I can see both sides of an argument as to why one should overcome the other
        Engineer's Motto: If it aint broke take it apart and fix it

        "If at 1st you don't succeed... call it version 1.0"

        "Half of Programming is coding"....."The other 90% is DEBUGGING"

        "Document my code????" .... "WHYYY??? do you think they call it CODE? "

          Using COM, it is easy to create an instance of Microsoft Document Explorer and display the topic, but the community comments are only available in the web, not in the Platform SDK.

            If you can see a reason to use obselete documentation, then that would be a vote for Win32.hlp.

                Chris,
                For me, I can read the Win32.Hlp a lot easier than I can MSDN.

                Maybe its just the way its worded, but PB documentation is the ONLY WAY that I even gave the "C written ONLY api definition" as to how and why to call an api function (although I had to use my own instinct of Basic<>C interpretation)

                In the case of F1 then a setting of use "EitherOr" or "Both" kind of settings I could see being useful as you can read one, or the other or both and get a dim bulb to light up a bit brighter
