  • Feature request in the IDE

    Hi PB,

This goes for PBWin and PBCC.

Can you please, please add an option to set the editor FONT for keywords to be BOLD

I hate say it but I have a severe form of myopia (yeah, nothing can be done about it, I'm born that way). and therefore I always put the keywords in black and bold in another IDE I'm using (MultiEdit). However, for debugging purposes I revert to the PB IDE but my color scheme is messed up since the majority of colors are in the range of black to red, with bold indication it would make more sense to me.

    Thanks for listening.

    Steven

Apart from the colour, aren't KEYWORDS capitalized in the IDE? At least there is a possibility for such a setting (as far as I remember).

I, however, am a "nerdy" in an other way: I do not use those settings because it is just window dressing. As soon as you open a source file in Notepad, there is no capitalization. Because I want my sources to be goodlooking, no matter in which editor, I type every capatalization by hand. Indeed, a lot more work but very satisfactory.

It can be set that way, but I believe not by default.

My current project is in PBCC5. I just peeked at the source, and the IDE saves it with keywords in all caps (which is my setting). So you don't have to do it yourself. But from Unix/Linux I have enough experience with case sensitivity that not only do I usually type the caps myself (as do you) but am careful to match the upper/lowercase of variables, SUB names, etc.

Actually, we're working in the same way, Erich. Self typed capitals, ditto mixed cases for vars and function/sub names. But I switched that keyword setting off, in order to be forced to type the capitalization myself. Just to try, open one of your sources in Notepad and count the keywords you forgot to capitalize, because the window dressing of the IDE mislead you.

          Hello Steven,

You are adressing Power Basic in this message. That's not the "official" way. This is a peer-to-peer forum. The messages maybe read by the Power Basic staff, but not always. If you want to be sure they get and process your message, you should write an email to the support department: [email protected]

What I miss is the feature QB (PDS) had where each keyword/variable (token?) displayed as last typed. Very quick to see spellings in similar variables.
