  • Question for Mr. Steve Rossell

I have a question for Mr. Steve Rossell.

Can I assume that you have subsequently updated the version of CommCtrl.inc that comes in the 9.01 version upgrade file?

I downloaded my upgrade on 7 March and the version of CommCtrl.inc that was installed by the package had the exact same SHA-1 checksum (C163A799F81CDDBBCD3B8A383777AF3127FCB630) as the file that is offered for download in the PowerBase.

    Could you verify this please?

    regards,
    Mark Farrar

If you download COMMCTRL.INC at http://powerbasic.com/support/pbforu...ad.php?t=40052 you will receive the latest version. We recommend you do that.

Is the master "Win32 includes" download corrected as well or is it just that single file for the moment?

Ok ... noted; however, and please Bob, no offense intended at all, that really does not answer my question. I just want to know if you updated the installation package with the correct version of commctrl.inc.

Again, I downloaded commctrl.inc from the link above, and then using the version that installed with my 9.01 update, did an ASCII compare using the program "ExamDiff". I also did a SHA-1 checksum compare using the program "XCSC". In each test I found that the version that came with my 9.01 was identical to the version that comes down from your link above. Also, it is the same version that came with 5.01. I can only conclude one of 3 things.

        1. You did update the 9.01 and 5.01 installers with the correct commctrl.inc files.

        or

        2. The file you offer for download at the link above is still the wrong file.

        or

        3. Both of my tests are wrong and I am missing something fundamental.

So ... once again ... has the version updater been corrected?

        thanks,
        M Farrar

The updates, full versions installs, back-up cd's, and the commctrl.inc file for download have all been updated.
          Sincerely,

Off topic, but if you have a look at post #25 for the latest version Mark, HashFile can do a 'Straight comparison' (binary) of two files with 'Hash value' deselected or a digest using MD5, SHA1, SHA256 or Whirlpool with 'Hash value' selected.

              David,

Thanks. Nice program. I did the file compare using HashFile and confirmed the results I obtained before. After checking MD5, SHA1, SHA256 and Whirlpool, I can concluded that the file in my 9.01 download is the correctly updated version.

              also...

              Steve,

Thanks for clearing it up for me.
