mcisendstring might be what you need, though I'm not sure about the "across the network portion of the question.

In Powerbasic for Windows, can Powerbasic check the CD and DVD drives across the network, and any drive with a CD or DVD inside, then EJECT it? Possible? The CD / DVD drives are already accessible to each others 'network mates.' That is, Computer A can see the CD drives on Computer B.

This sounds like a good first project for me for Powerbasic for Windows.
