  • Forum Post Links Fail Due To PowerBasic Site Unavailable For Some Members

When reading older posts listed from the search functionality, the link to other posts fail.

They are of the form: "http://www.powerbasic.com/.../showthread.php?t=52769"
And this fails as the powerbasic site is not available (I am in the UK)
Newer posts are of the form "https://forum.powerbasic.com/forum/.../...avi-code"
Which works. Presumably because of the forum.powerbasic.com root.

I gather that the sales site has been closed in Europe because of something
about compliance (or not?) with the current European data protection rules.

This is at least understandable due to sales records and customer databases.
But why block access to the old forum items?
I am not web design savvy, but is it not possible to get to "www.powerbasic.com/support/pbforums"
and still block access to the sales and product areas?

This situation is seriously affecting any searching that goes back to the earlier days.

I am sure that the posts are there somewhere, but the links do not find them.

    Regards, Mike.

    Hey Mike!

I can't fix the problem you're seeing but my gbThreads offline database goes back to pretty much day one of the forums. The last time I updated it (the downloadable file) was back in Feb 2018. Do you have that version? It's a zipped file about 0.5GB in size. Home page is here http://www.garybeene.com/sw/gbthreads.htm
