From one that up to a few years ago, My company did too, but the cost of printing and changing between prints (even for minor changes) and keeping the docs current (resulting in many printed spent costs that could not be shipped) vs downloadable (changes can be changed when needed) and letting the user print or do what they like with it made the print cost one that HAD to be dropped.

I agree, But I am unaware of PDF Manuals available for BowerBasic. I love printed copies and would not mind printing from PDF. I refuse to spend the amount of time necessary to print from a help system.

Hmm, sounds like a certain software publisher in Venice FL should hear about this... sounds like a great customer service they should think about adding to keep up with the competition ......

Free prints (Market subjective) depending if your base gets more from printed manuals, or looking it up via online docs.

Personnally, I would LOVE getting a printed manual (Saves me from time to time to see page beside page) but majority of my time is searching docs to see the point I am after rather than flipping through pages to find the same document

and lets face it $1 for a CD is a heck of a lot less cost than printing manuals in most cases

I haven't checked recently but a few years ago, you could order all the Intel manuals (5 volumes) as hardcopy.
I did and they were sent to me free of charge.
Look on the Intel website.

Your local "Insty-Print" or "Econoprint" can probably take a PDF, print it and bind it for you.


I had this done with the Implementation Guides for the HIPAA '837' and '835' transactions.

I had it printed both sides, three-hole punched. Then I used some bulk "rings" to bind it myself. This allowed the documents to open FLAT on my desk and I could see two pages at a time.

IIRC it cost me about $100 total for two 700-page manuals.

Worth looking at anyway.

I don't know, perhaps you need to ask Intel. I expect they will be avaialable at a cost.

You can get a CD with all the manuals on, the link is on the same page.
You can then get lots of paper and print them for yourself or a local pinter shop may do that and bind them for you.

Paul, do you know if the Vol.2 document is available in a spiral bound hard copy? I'm still using the spiral bound reference book that I got when I purchased the Microsoft Macro Assembler 5.1 (circa 1987). Perhaps one day it will be a valuable antique.

Edit: The Vol.2 .PDF manuals don't indicate relative clock speeds for the instructions like my old manual does.

Anyone that wants to take ASM programing seriously really ought to download and use the Intel manuals which tell you how the processors work and what they can do.
Although Volumes 1 and 3 of the Intel Pentium manual set are useful, the one most needed by programmers is Volume 2 (in 2 parts).
Volume 2 explains in detail all of the available instructions of the processor.
