  • I was first to order one of the new object :-).

I have put all actual developments on hold until I get it.

Why should I do the same thing now, if i can do it later with a quarter of the code?

    Power-Objects 9.0 ?

What's to order? Nothing in product announcements forum or on PB home page at this time.

          Bob has announced Power-Objects here.
So if he got some, why shall he keep them all for himself?

Sounds like a bit of the self-forbidden fruit: PowerVapor.

He did? I guess I missed that. Where?

It does, but only one sentence in Bob's post could be misconstrued as PowerVapor in what is a decidedly concise educational post.
                  This assumes that the line:
                  "More on this later.."
means he'll teach us some more, later.

Those of us that are not comfortable with this aspect of programming will appreciate all the information we can get prior to attempting to use such a tool.

I hope so. Maybe the Objects below his chair are gigling about our programms before we got them .

Besides that, if he is doing what we expect, he has a lot of things to do now. Also I like the idea to explain first several basic things before finally opening the bag.
This will prevent the situation that we can see the new car, look at it and ask "Whats a Turbo?".

A CLASS is much like an enhanced user-defined type; it's a description of of both the variables and the subroutines which make up the object. When you create an object, the CLASS definitions are used to do so.

What is the price if you would take the price tag too serious?

I think there is a hint of exciting new things to come:
                              More about all this later...
but for the moment Bob has given us a new forum in which to discuss the existing ability of PBCC and PB/Win to interface to COM objects.

Until now they were scattered over 3 forums: PBCC, PB/Win and Programming; it makes sense to have them in one place.

                                Yes that's true.
To me, some few specific subforums should not be bad too.

PowerVIVIAN does not like being treated like a PowerOBJECT

There is more to her then just a good looking animation

...new forum in which to discuss the existing ability of PBCC and PB/Win to interface to COM objects.
That's what my first thought was, too, especially looking at the official description: "New forum in which to discuss the existing ability of PBCC and PB/Win to interface to COM objects."

But then there is that "I was [past tense] the first to order..." statement. Take that away and a lot of things make more sense.

What would really make more sense in this case is, there would be no "PowerVapor" at which to snicker. For a long time PB has been (with my wholehearted support ) a staunch proponent of "announcing no software before its time." Frankly I find it refreshing that software is not announced before it is actually ready for prime time.

I suppose Bob is just making the part of Power Vivian (she is retired now in some Bahamas island).
I'm sure all is ready. Bob is just creating the right ... waiting atmosphere, the pathos.

Or maybe, just maybe, he got tired of seeing "Object" postings scattered from hell to breakfast across these fora, or listened to user complaints about the same thing.

Or, he sees that not enough people (myself included) don't take advantage of the existing OBJECT capability in the compilers, resulting in a poor market image ("old technology"), which hurts sales, reducing his income, meaning he eats less and is losing too much weight.
