scheeeshh!! this is kicking my but!!

I'm trying to add international language support to a internet app,

and after searching thru google, I think I have found more solutions (none of which do I have working) than languages!!

anyone have suggestion to best way?

ok I guess?? I've decided on a path,

more specific, I am trying to build an indexing engine for a forum type site,

and came into problems when introducing utf8 encoding,

so, to make it easy I think I will simply strip out all the accents and convert the indexes (supporting Latin(?) based chars only)...

any better ideas?

Use the MultiByteToWideChar/WideCharToMultiByte functions if you need to translate between ANSI (or other charsets) and UTF. The trick is to store everything in UTF-16 - it supports 100% of language characters. You should not have to learn character codes.

I use a multi-language string handling engine for the display text in my apps, it stores the strings in a UTF-16 file and translates them to the locally installed code page when the strings must be displayed. With web pages you would need to track a langid if you are not using UTF-8.

PB does not natively support UTF-16 (or easily, at least) so translation is needed.
