Small format color LCDs?

I'd like to replace a character based VFD display with a small format color (tft?) LCD screen, something smaller than 5" across. I want to use it with a PC 104 form factor computer using DOS. Does anyone have experience with these? I've googled a few, but I don't quite understand what it takes to make them work.

Hi John,

I would suggest searching for "car computer PC" in google. There are lots of projects out there where people have put computers in their cars and this calls for small LCD monitors.

You might also want to check out a company called Matrix Orbital.

SparkFun is also a great little electronics online shop with some nice tutorials.
