I am currently trying to learn German so I put together this little German editor with text to speech incorporated. I used some code by others on this forum to make it work - thanks to Pierre B in particular for the sapi code. Just pick your voice, highlight the text, and hit "speak". Slow it down and loop it if you desire. I hadn't programmed in Powerbasic in a while, so this felt pretty good. In fact, I have not been programming period for quite a while now. See the attached code. It is in PB10.3 with Jose's includes. You will have to load your language pack of choice into Windows. See the help dialog for inserting special German character on the US keyboard. If you change the language from German, you will probably want to modify the subclass to change the special character insertion behavior.
