I was just curious The latest version of BassBox runs VERY well, even on my Eee. It is very CPU friendly.


Just an FYI, those who may have a flickering issue, be sure you are using the graphics drivers provided by your graphics card manufacturer and not the ones provided by Microsoft. Microsoft's drivers only support OpenGL via software emulation. The drivers supplied by the graphics card manufacturer support hardware accelerated OpenGL.

I just downloaded BassBox, the plugin screenshots look fantastic!
However, bassbox.exe just sits on 99% CPU, with the interface slightly flickering with a couple of the button controls. The FPS is going between 4-7. I have full hardware acceleration and havent had any other graphics-related problems so im not sure what the problem is

This is what I can see when the program starts up, im not sure if im supposed to see anything more or not?

First, you can read the CHM help file if you click on the BlackBox button located on the top left corner.

About the 99% CPU there must be something wrong with your config, because it runs well even on a Eee PC, see quote below:

By myself on my VISTA computer the CPU is something around 14% with an average FPS of 34. (almot the same values on a XP computer).

Perhaps your graphic card is not optimized to run OpenGL, then i would first check with the graphic card manufacturer for the latest OpenGL drivers.

Currently it looks like your computer is doing OpenGL software emulation and not native OpenGL hardware acceleration.

BassBox has been updated to version 2.10

All the plugins have been reworked to self destroy the OpenGL textures when unloaded from memory.

It has been several month since i have not written a BassBox plugin, today i had a new inspiration and i wrote Flashback in a couple of hours.

It is hard to figure the result, even with this screen shot:

New version 2.50

BassBox version 2.50, goes full screen.

To switch back from full screen mode press either:
Space bar, Escape key, TAB key

Note: The full screen mode is able to work with single or multi-monitor config.
In case of dual display (multi-monitor) you can still use drag and drop, from Explorer onto the OpenGL full screen display.

The "Full screen" button is located onto the right corner under the "close" button.

PS: This build has been only checked with VISTA 64.
Let me know if you encounter problem(s) with either XP and VISTA 32-bit.

All the BassBox plugins have a small CPU foot print, and the visual effects are on the service of the playing audio, they are not effect for effect, they can be played full screen even on 1920 x 1080 HD display.
