BassBox II (with OpenGL plugins)

BassBox version II is there

BassBox is written in pure SDK coding style using PBWin 8.04.
It is an "open source" multimedia project, hosted on Jose Roca's forum.

To install BassBox, unzip the file into a dedicated folder, then create a short cut to "BassBox.exe" on your Windows desktop.

To start playing, just drag any folder (with embedded audio files) onto the short cut, it as simple than that.
No need to create a playlist first, BassBox will detect automaticaly all your audio files and start playing them in sequence.
As an alternative, you can also drag audio files from the Explorer onto the player when it is running.

This version is provided:
- With dedicated visual plugins, written with OpenGL, by talented programmers.
- Customed background, that you can change on the fly.

BassBox is VISTA and XP compatible.

If you want to contribute to this project and write your own plugin, then you are welcomed, everything is explained on Jose's forum.

The previous zip file has been updated with a new version, that provides FFT and mouse support for the plugins (open source on Jose's forum)

BassBox (with URL audio streaming)

The BassBox "SDK open source" project has been updated.

Now it allows you to play audio files directly from the internet, using either "ftp" or "http", and the streamed audio are saved automaticaly into the dedicated "NetCapture\" BassBox subfolder.

This version also introduces the ".bbp" extension (BassBox Playlist), that is a plain ASCII text where you can store either URL or full qualified path to your audio files to play them in sequence. Then all you have to do to use it, is to drag the .bbp file either on the BassBox desktop icon or directly onto the player when running.

BassBox is hosted on the Jose Roca's forum, where all details about this new version are explained already.

BassBox Internet streaming play list

Here is an example of BBP (BassBox Playlist) to perform Internet audio streaming.

Save it as "MyInternet.bbp" and drag this file either on the BassBox desktop icon, or directly onto the player if it is already running.

And here are some settings to use with the "Laser Borealis" plugin 07.

CX -39 CY -1678 CZ -45 (Jet stream)
CX -499 CY -180 CZ -23 (Laser beam)
CX -316 CY -176 CZ -2
CX -143 CY -577 CZ -8

Use left mouse buton:
to change CX, CY rotation angle while moving horizontaly,
and CZ rotation wile moving verticaly.

Use right mouse button:
to setup CY,CZ while moving horizontaly,
and zoom In/Out while moving verticaly.

"In the begining"



I selected an infrared sky, because we are close to the begining of the universe. At this time the Monolith stands behind the Earth, working hard to make this jewel of our galaxy that is our little planet.

Next step would be to split the water and make earth ground coming visible, while the Monolith slowly emerges from behind the Earth, moving hover the scene.

Creating Plugins

When creating plugins, do you use some kind of test tool? The reason for asking this is that it takes a bit of time to start up BassBox. No big deal when using it for its purpose but when developing I can imagine it'll get annoying to
wait all the time.

I do not understand what you mean.

When creating a new plugin I compile it under the name Test.dll, then I start BassBox to check it.
If something must be fixed in the Test.dll plugin, then i select another one, this has for effect to unload the current Test.dll, thus allowing me to compile with new changes, then I select it back to see how it goes, and so on.
