  • Alt PB Icons

Alt Icons for the new compilers for those that like to tweak shortcuts and such. 2 versions of each and each icon contains multiple formats including Vista 256x256 PNG style. Now that the Compiler EXEs are 32bit themselves they can/could have icons as well...although you wouldn't really see them unless browsing the folder.

Feel free to "hijack" the thread if you wish for your own ideas. I like to make my compilers look as cool as possible too, so any fresh ideas would be great.

Well, I guess I won't worry about copyright or trademark problems.

However, the rest of the numeric digits would make for a pretty cool set of icons one could use to add some sex appeal to displays.

Not sure what you mean there...shortcuts can have any icon you want on them. Now using a Resource Editor to insert new icons into the exe may not be 100% right, although them knowing about that would mean you posted the exe somewhere which would be a whole different wrong. Not sure how PB or CC could be copyrighted otherwise we'd have issues with Peanut Butter, Closed Captioned, Carbon Copy, etc. It is their forum though, so if they didn't like the idea they can delete them. I just thought it was a nice addition for those getting the compiler. And, since they have the new compiler's version those wanting to use them would need to get the new compilers since using them on the old would be...well, dumb.

As for any copyrights of mine, I told PB during Beta they could use them if they wanted them that I didn't care how they were used. I don't think they used them in the new versions (I'm waiting till the rush dies down and for more money before getting them...I think I may finally use the prize I got from the programming contest too and I don't want to delay anyone's sales on someone having to manually process my order)

On the other note. Did you have any specific requests for your number icons? The original artwork is Vector based, so it can be anything you want. I can do any colors or shapes and any number or other object in the middle. Do you want each number to have a different color sphere? Different Colors/Bevels/Fonts/Textures on the numbers? I really liked the numbers by themselves too since it was easy to size down to 16x16.

Spheres with numbers that have a gradient color of white and black would make some nice icons for someone making a lotto program.

Before I saw the icons, I thought for sure any icons designed for use as "Alt Icons for the new compilers" would perforce include either the PowerBASIC name or logo, which surely would raise copyright and/or trademark issues.

        But they don't.

        >On the other note. Did you have any specific requests for your number icons?

Um, "0" thru "9" except for those already included in the file? They really are nice looking.

Not that I have enough art skill to use them. Heck, I can't even draw a solid color square using Paint.

The already included would only be 16x16 since larger has the PB/CC text. So, are you wanting any of the bigger icons in the file? 32x32, 48x48, 256x256 Vista PNG. XP (with Alpha channels and shadow or glow) and/or just the standard 32x32 and 16x16 icons?
