  • EZGUI 6.0 may be in the works

To all EZGUI users, please check out my post on my forum about a possible EZGUI 6.0 Pro.

    http://cwsof.com/forums/index.php?topic=1343.0

Two key areas would be the goal. Unicode and Multi-Language (programming languages) support.

I liked the designer from Firefly most, but its not more developed.
If you would include such a VD-programm and support Jose's Includes and maybe his windows-libraries that would (save you lots of work) and would be interesting.
Also some subprogramms for Neural Networks would be interesting for PB.

If you just work on the EZGUI 5.0 and make it a lot better, thats also a way to go.
Let's see what you have to offer.

Let me add that FreeBasic as well as PureBasic support 64 bit.
I have no idea if you could include these in any way (let me say that Jürgen Kühlwein managed to make a IDE for PB as well as FB also x64).
SO maybe its worth a thought. Especially in Purebasic there no Visual Designer that can compete anything on the PB Market including EZGUI, they only have very primitive VD's there - what i have seen.

      Hi Chris
      you said
Build an App Builder which does not even require an external compiler.
Yes, this will be good provided that Ezgui can produce a full machine code and it is unlike those clear text scripts like MSIL ( under MS dotnet) which can be easily seen and read by others. We want something like what PB compiler can produce and not hackable scripts or
needing a slow interpreter dll to work with.

Yes we don't care what language but the final product must be able to execute fast without using an interpreter and must not have hackable scripts. Otherwise all our programming efforts will be stolen by others.

EZGui 6.0 -- multilanguage programming -- I suggest that you add a PB to Python converter as there is a high demand for python programmers, and this would be good
for PB too as we can convert PB to python and backwards. Maybe throw in C++ converter as well as C++ is quite popular. You need to market it according to the prevailing market demands

I take back part of my reply to your cross-posted post.

EZGui getting the ability to create windows with controls from multiple languages does not make it a language translator.

            I won't repeat myself.

EZGUI is a GUI framework not a programming language transpiler (convert from one language to another). I do need to rework EZGUI so it works with other languages though. Powerbasic's use of OLE strings (which I use a lot with parameters in EZGUI) makes EZGUI not very compatible with most languages. I need to rework the API's so they work with the string types of other languages.

                To emphasize what Dale said.

Chris' objective for EZGui is more like VPE than a transpiiler. i.e. an add-on that can be used for the same purpose in different languages ( create a user interface or create PDF etc file).

Thank you everyone for your feedback, the website https://www.daxx.com/blog/developmen...lion%20(source).

can tell you some market trends in programming languages C++ programmers are about 5.4 million while Python is at 7 million

whereas PB has probably 1,000 programmers .... so to encourage more programmers to come over to use PB we should have a transpiler
especially for Python , why? Because Python is an interpreter and can be easily read and source code stolen. if we can interface Python
with PB and to keep all the important algorithms inside PB then it would be a good selling point for PB.

Python can deal with the external user interface, while PB portion does all the core work and it would be difficult for source code being stolen from PB compile codes?

I know that Jürgen Kühlwein has done a lot about using Strings in FB like in PB.
But the official FB-People did not accept it.
Maybe you can talk to JK and make a FB-Branch?
Then you ccould make a PB x64 Compiler your own. There may be C skills needed.
